Nexus Biographies http://www.nexusbio.org Stories of the people of Nexus TK. Please send your own stories to dritztk@gmail.com. Nexus Biographies 2012 http://nexusbio.org/scripts/find.php?schema=rss&find=rss/news&GUID=29 29 It looks like a lot of my planned 'gradual' changes for the site ended up getting bundled together leading us to another New Years release of Nexus Biographies. The site should be a lot more dynamic now and offer faster loading pages and other new features.

You can now keep track of the stories you have visited during each visit to the site. After viewing two of more stories a 'Previous Stories' link will appear at the top left of each story page allowing you to quickly look at what stories you have read and let you go back to them. You can even save this list for subsequent visits to the site. Simply open the toolbox and check off 'Store story history'.

The submission page has also been updated. Now when you submit a story you will get a preview of what was submitted.

These new features require a fairly modern browser. But never fear there is a 'Static' version of the site which should work on almost anything. This version should be familiar to people who have visited the site in the past year as it is very similar to the 2011 version of the site. If you want you can use this version of the site by clicking 'Static' in the toolbox.

So what about the future of the site? Well I'm getting ready to move on to my other site Chongun Haven to do some updates to it. However I do not want to leave Nexus Biographies behind. One change that I'd like to do is to make the site a bit more friendly to mobile browsers. So of the effects you get when mousing over stuff just don't happen with touch (I wonder why). The site is still perfectly usable on those new fangled devices but it could be a little more graceful.

So who knows how the site will progress from now. In any case new features really don't matter without fortifying what this site is really about, stories! So get submiting.

Choose a color - Style Update http://www.nexusbio.org/scripts/find.php?schema=rss&find=rss/news&GUID=26 26 Now you can choose any color you would ever want (as long as it is yellow or blue) to style the site to your liking. This new feature is available by clicking on the toolbox link in the upper right there. You need to have cookies enabled in your browser to make use of this feature. More colors will be made available in the near future. There are currently no plans to allow for more drastic style options, as in past versions of Nexus Biographies.

This is the site's first movement toward a more dynamic presentation. New features added to the site will be just that, additions. The site will continue to be compatible with older browsers avoiding some of the problems past versions of the site had.

For now the new Blue Skies style will be the default. Not sure whether I prefer this or the old yellow style.

Style Update http://www.nexusbio.org/scripts/find.php?schema=rss&find=rss/news&GUID=25 25 No new features this time, just an update to improve the look and feel of the site. Unfortunately I have not been able to test these changes with older browsers. It's possible if you are using an older version of Internet Explorer there may be a few problems. If so please send PyroAce an n-mail in Nexus.

RSS Feeds http://www.nexusbio.org/scripts/find.php?schema=rss&find=rss/news&GUID=22 22 Looking to keep up to date on changes around Nexus Biographies. Be sure to subscribe to our RSS feeds. There are two available, first the News feed and secondly the Latest Stories feed.

For those of you unfamiliar with RSS feeds I will be adding a page which will hopefully explain how useful they can be. So be on a lookout for that.

Nexus Biographies 2011 http://www.nexusbio.org/scripts/find.php?schema=rss&find=rss/news&GUID=21 21 Well it begins again. Over the past few months a new version of Nexus Biographies has been in the works and it is now ready for release onto the world wide web. For those of you who hung around the testing site, you should already be familiar with the new site.

The motto for this latest redesign was to focus on the core idea behind Nexus Biographies. Which is? The stories of course. So a lot of the extra (and unnecessary) stuff on the site has been stripped away to maintain this focus.

One of the hidden features of the old Nexus Biographies, the archive, has been brought to the forefront of the site. Basically the archive allowed people to view all the stories on the site on one nice orderly page. If you'll notice that particular feature is duplicated by the new stories page. This page has also been made the main page of the site so when you go to nexusbio.org it'll bring you right to it. Stories from the scrolls of NexusTK have been given a similar treatment in the scrolls section.

Though I still love my fancy effects, you'll notice the new site is completely stripped of any dynamic fancyness. They are not gone forever though and will return along with a way to switch the site between dynamic and static modes. There are still some nice elegant features on the the site such as the navigation on the top of any story page that will allow you to quickly navigate between every story on the site.

The biggest new feature of the site is the Submission page. This will make it much easier for you to get stories to me and for me to add stories to the site.

So welcome to 2011 and welcome to the new version of Nexus Biographies.
